Things to see in Tokyo -Landmark Tower

2. Landmark Tower.
When you come to a big city you probably want to get up in a very high building. It is a good idea and there are several to chose from in Tokyo. Most famous is the Tokyo tower in Roppongi. It may look like the Eiffel tower in Paris but has nothing of its charm. Scruffy looking interior and no outdoor platform. Feels more than a copy of the Eiffel tower from a Dutch theme park.

After seeing the movie “Lost in translation” you may want to find yourself in the bar at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Shinjuku for some of that Murray-Johansson feeling. There is even another Park Hyatt in Roppongi that seems good enough for some of the star struck. Sitting there sipping 1000 yen drinks works fine if that is what you crave.

The latest monster building in town is of course the Roppongi Hills complex itself. The view from the coffee shop in the Mori art museum there is not bad at all. I will admit that. Very spacious and stylish place also. If you are lucky there is a good exhibition in the museum too.
All of the above listed are ok places to go. But if it is a really clear day there is only one place to go. One of those days we get once every two months or so here where the sky is all blue and no mist. The Landmark Tower has a stunning view in all directions. You can see the port of Yokohama and the sea. Next to that Tokyo where you can see the other famous buildings listed above. Not to forget a stunning view of Mount Fuji itself. The observatory floor also has a nice little bar with beer at very decent prices for a place like this.
It is the tallest building in Japan and probably the fastest elevator in the world. Definitely the worlds most impeccable elevator hostesses. If you want a more elegant experience go to the bar in the hotel and have a drink. It is only one level below the observatory floor and a drink should be about the same price as the entrance fee, only the view is only one direction.
I am sure that you can find your way there by yourself but here is a little help. Just because I really think it is worth seeing I want to show you how easy it is to get there. Take the Toyoko line from Shibuya, it will change name to Minatomirai line after Yokohama. You do not have to change trains. Get off at the stop Minatomirai and the building is right on top of you. If you are in south eastern parts of down town Tokyo you can begin by taking the Hibiya line. That will change name into Toyoko line, and then to Minatomirai line.Related articles:
