Japanese women are poor “baby making machines”

28th January 2007

Ok, I thought I’d keep daily news and politics out of this blog as much as possible, but now I have changed my mind. Recently Japanese politicians have said so much weird and strange things that I decided to collect them on the blog from now on.

For those of you who follow Japanese politics you already know that the current government thinks it is unnecessary to learn English, that school bullying is good because it creates hard individuals and the latest thing is that corporal punishment should be reintroduced for better discipline in school. (Yes, it means that the teacher beats the children) Well, let’s forget about that for now and focus on the latest gaffe:

Japan’s health minister has referred to women as “birth-giving machines” in a speech to a local political meeting. “Because the number of birth-giving machines and devices is fixed, all we can ask for is for them to do their best per head,” he said.

He added: “Although it may not be so appropriate to call them machines.”

Well you just did. Mahalo.

UPDATE! (Warning: Humor, might offend some people, please do not continue if you are not into sarcasm)

Now the true machine has been found!

    1. Stephanie Hoffman Says:

I think that the United States of America, the Bush Administration needs to go clamp down on Japan to force the minister who said something so barbaric stating that Japanese women make poor baby making machines. Should any politician in a western liberal democracies say such a statement, they would be asked of their prompt resignation. They need to know that if they desire a seat in the UN Security council, then they need to wise up.
