Fight time: K1 World GP 2006 in Tokyo!
21st November 2006

Yes, finally it’s time for the heavy weights in K1 World GP 2006 in Tokyo! December 2 in Tokyo Dome, and your humble narrator will be there to watch. This is the once a year heavy weights fights. The others don’t really count. Here it’s more money, more glory and more power. Full report will be posted here as usually. Let’s look at the fightcard:

There are veterans like the dutch Peter Aerts, Remy Bonjasky and Ernesto Hoost. Lethal heavy weights that has made Holland Europe’s number one fighting country. As much celebrities as these guys are today, they’re still fighters and at an event like this everyone wants to see if they are still up to it.
In the karate sphere supporters have got their hopes up for Brazilian Glaube Feitosa (Kyokushin). He is up against a Russian, Ruslan Karev. A much younger fighter listed as a kickboxer. This will be an interesting fight. Youth vs Experience. Russia vs Brazil. Karate vs Kickboxing. Both Russia and Brazil have a tradition of great fighters. The Russians are tough, but the Brazilians more innovative.
Another fight that I look forward to is dutch Semmy Schilt vs Frenchman Jerome Le Banner. Shilt has been booth European Karate Champion and Daido Juku Hokutoki Champion, so he sure has a solid background for this. On the other hand I watched Le Banner win against Korean Hong-Man Choi last time and that was a fight to remember. Korean Hong-Man Choi is a giant (7 feet 2 inch) and Le Banner way smaller (6 feet 3 inch). If he can beat a guy twice his size he is not going to be afraid of a Daido Juku champion.
May the best man win. We will find out on December 2!
Update: (UNCONFIRMED) Hong-Man Choi has a serious blood clot in his left thigh and he is not going to make it to this year’s K-1 GP.
