Yes, finally it’s time for the heavy weights in K1 World GP 2006 in Tokyo! December 2 in Tokyo Dome, and your humble narrator will be there to watch. This is the once a year heavy weights fights. Found this video with World War II veteran Les Loken. He was stationed in Japan in the 1940:s and 1950:s and worked with re-building. His witness is very interesting. Imagine for example that all officers were forced to quit the Japanese army. Where did they go? I assume into the industry, that is part of the reason the why the Japanese industry was so military like. When the samurai era finished many samurai became school teachers, maybe the same happened to the WW II officiers? Even the Japanese schools have some of this in its organisation. Well, these are just my theories. Listen to Loken instead. He was here at the time.

Fight time again. This time the tournament was in Nagano. Got up at four in the morning to go with the crew from my Dojo in a chartered bus to the former Olympic city. This was big. Fights on eight mats at the same time in the Olympic arena. Mostly Zendokai clubs taking part, but also a few other full contact styles that I couldn’t determine the name of.

Some things in Japan are well known like the Tokyo tower or the temples in Kyoto. There are also many famous bridges in the world. Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco, the Brooklyn bridge in New York or the bridge over the river Kwai to name a few. Now, the worlds largest suspension bridge is right here in Japan. If you are in the Kobe area it is definitively worth a visit.
