Koki Kameda will rematch after rumours of foul!
22nd August 2006

Japanese boxer Koki Kameda who won the title for the World Boxing Association’s light flyweight championship on august 2 may be forced to defend his title again. Venezuelan fighter Juan Landaeta should have won the match according to many, since he was dominating the match in large. Today NHK announced the news:
The blogosphere has been been full of speculations of this match. It is not unknown of in Japan that foul play is involved in fighting. This goes back a long way. Over 15 years ago legendary fighter Benny “the Jet” fled Japan after refusing to take money in a rigged fight. Only to return the next day to settle the matter by apologising to the people involved for making them lose face.
Bloggers Mutantfrog and Marxy have written about this, naming the people possibly involved.
This poses more questions. Adamu at Mutantfrog wants to know:
“Will the Japanese yakuza expand its Internet savvy beyond cheap cons in order to protect its image? Well, as far as this blogger is concerned, I figure I’ll be safe as long I keep writing in English.”
Is this another case of internet vs. main stream media where the internet wins with a K.O? And this blogger wants to know how Kameda does in the rematch!
