A bad day in Yokohama
3rd August 2006
Well today I planned to write a nice post about how to take a dip in the public pools here in Japan. I was inspired by this funny read.
My “my pool” was supposed to be pretty close to were I live. I knew it was to be in Tsunashima park, to where I can ride by bicycle. I had gone there many times to look for it but I never seemed to find it and I thought that was strange. The only thing I found was the baby pool, but I knew there was supposed to be a nice 25 meter thing there.
Finally I realized that the pool is only “open” between juli 8th to september 3rd and I was there a week early. Still an outside pool would not be possible to hide? Well, think again. They hide it under the tennis court when not it use! About the opening ours it seems strange to close the pool in early september when it is still really warm here.
Anyway, when I got to the pool today it was closed. I could see the nice clear water through the fence but no, sign says “today, closed”.
OK, so I got out of there. And as if I had not had my share of bad luck my bike had a blow out on the way home. Not like a flat tire, you know when suddenly there is no more air in there. The inner tube exploded with the sound of a pistol going off. Guess I should not have pumped it so full the other day and the heat today made it expand.
Well, there I was. No dip in the pool and a flat tire. I thought I was clever dragging my bike to the nearest workshop that actually was on the same street. By know you already know the what is going to come next. Yes, it was closed. So, I parked the bike there, took the front wheel of and walked to another bike shop. Yes, it was closed too.
So, long story short. Thats my you are not getting any post about swimming today. Tomorrow I will hopefully be by the pool in Tsunashima park. You will find me there if want to see me. Mahalo.
